SABCS 2024 | Emphasizing the need to distinguish lobular and ductal carcinoma

Jason Mouabbi, MD, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX, comments on the distinct nature of invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) compared to invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC). Both subtypes differ at the genomic, molecular, and microenvironmental levels, yet both have historically been grouped together. Dr Mouabbi consequently highlights the need for separate studies, scoring systems, and predictive tools, in this setting. This interview took place at the 2024 San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (SABCS) congress in San Antonio, TX.
