ESSO 43 | Assessing textbook outcomes in borderline resectable stage IIIB-D and IV melanoma
Anna Czarnecka, MD, PhD, Maria Skłodowska-Curie Institute of Oncology, Warsaw, Poland, discusses the treatment of patients with borderline resectable stage IIIB-D and IV melanoma, highlighting the multidisciplinary team’s efforts to ensure radical surgery through tumor volume reduction. They track several parameters post-surgery, including the success of R0 resections and complications, to define “textbook outcomes,” which would be a perfect score of 100%. The analysis of 61 patients revealed that nearly 80% achieved these optimal outcomes when treated with either targeted therapy or immunotherapy.
