ASCO 2024 | Feasibility and safety of neoadjuvant nivolumab + chemo for resectable diffuse pleural mesotheliomas

Melina Elpi Marmarelis, MD, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA, shares results from a pilot study on neoadjuvant nivolumab combined with platinum and pemetrexed for resectable diffuse pleural mesothelioma. Among 22 patients treated, 19 underwent pleurectomy/decortication (P/D), and the study showed promising survival outcomes and tolerability of the regimen. Exploratory analyses identified increased CD8 cytotoxic T cells and ISG+ T cells in patients with better progression-free survival (PFS), highlighting the importance of preoperative treatments. This interview took place during the 2024 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting in Chicago, IL.
