GU Cancers 2022 | Survivorship challenges for men with prostate cancer

Andrew Armstrong, MD, MS, Duke Cancer Institute, Durham, NC, discusses survivorship in men with prostate cancer (PC). Patients with PC are recently living much longer with 5-year survival rates in the metastatic setting being demonstrated as well as more than 10 years in some patients with PC with the application of more potent androgen receptor (AR) therapies. It is therefore critical to emphasize factors such as cardiovascular disease, bone health, blood pressure monitoring and exercise as many patients are suffering non-prostate cancer comorbidities, obesities and hypertension following the pandemic. Dr Armstrong highlights the importance of educating patients about lifestyle, diet and exercise whilst patients are living longer under successful therapeutics. This interview took place at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Genitourinary Cancers Symposium 2022 in San Francisco, CA.
