GU Cancers 2022 | Upper tract UC transcriptome profiling and immune microenvironment characterization

Wesley Yip, MD, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York City, NY, talks on the molecular characterization via transcriptome profiling of upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC). Clinical pathologic staging and risk stratification of UTUC is based on tumor stage and grade, however, methods for prognostic stratification to aid in treatment decision making are lacking. An investigation into 100 UTUC tumors from 100 different patients was executed to gain further insight into the heterogeneity of UTUC tumors and how therapy can be personalized, answering questions such as which tumors will be more likely to respond to immunotherapy. This interview took place at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Genitourinary Cancers Symposium 2022 in San Francisco, CA.
