ESMO GI 2024 | The benefits of liver transplantation & chemotherapy in colorectal liver metastases

Chiara Cremolini, MD, PhD, University of Pisa, Pisa, Italy, comments on the TRANSMET trial (NCT02597348), which assessed liver transplantation with chemotherapy or chemotherapy alone in patients with unresectable colorectal liver metastases. Addition of liver transplantation improved overall survival and progression-free survival, showing that this trial may be practice changing in this setting. This interview took place at 2024 European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Gastrointestinal Cancers Annual Congress in Munich, Germany.
