WCLC 2026 | RISP: cytisine for smoking cessation in patients over the age of 65

Massimiliano Cani, MD, University of Turin, Turin, Italy, discusses results from the RISP trial (NCT05766046), evaluating the use of cytisine for smoking cessation in older adults over the age of 65. Cytisine is not currently recommended for older adults due to safety concerns, however this study found it to be safe and effective in this population, with a cessation rate comparable to the general population. This interview took place at the IASLC 2026 World Conference on Lung Cancer congress in Seoul, Republic of Korea.
