EBCC 2024 | Prehabilitation and rehabilitation for breast cancer surgery

Sophie Wooldrik, MD, Sint Franciscus Gasthuis Rotterdam, Rotterdam, The Netherlands, reports on the findings of the BREHAB pilot study (NCT06076616) on prehabilitation and rehabilitation in patients with breast cancer undergoing surgery. The diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer can interfere with mental and physical aspects of patients’ lives, such as sleep, diet, exercise, and work. The study employed lifestyle coaches with experience with patients with breast cancer to provide broad lifestyle coaching from diagnosis to 6 months post-surgery. The preliminary results demonstrate high completion rate and satisfaction levels from patients. This interview took place at the 14th European Breast Cancer Conference (EBCC) in Milan, Italy.
