ESMO 2024 | MSI-high as a biomarker for immunotherapy in perioperative settings
John Strickler, MD, Duke Cancer Institute, Durham, NC, describes the role of microsatellite instability-high (MSI-high) as a predictive biomarker for immunotherapy benefit. Recent studies reveal that MSI-high patients also show strong responses pre-surgery, suggesting potential for perioperative immunotherapy. Emerging data, such as studies assessing ipilimumab with nivolumab, underline promising response rates. Ongoing research aims to optimize the integration of immunotherapy into perioperative care. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2024 Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
