ESMO 2024 | ELECTRA: elacestrant and abemaciclib in patients with ER+, HER2- breast cancer

Eva Ciruelos, MD, PhD, Hospital 12 de Octubre, Madrid, Spain, comments on the rationale and design of the ELECTRA trial (NCT05386108) of elacestrant plus abemaciclib in patients with ER+, HER2-, ESR1-mutant metastatic breast cancer (mBC). Phase Ib focuses on determining the recommended dose, while Phase II evaluates efficacy, particularly in patients with brain metastases. Early safety data suggests manageable side effects with no Grade 4 events or severe diarrhea reported. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2024 Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
