NCRI 2018 | An improved pre-clinical model opens avenues to promising new GBM treatments

Glioblastoma (GBM), the most common type of brain tumor, has a dismal prognosis. Here, Anthony Chalmers, BM, BCh, FRCR, PhD, FRCP, from the University of Glasgow, Glasgow, UK, introduces an exciting 3-dimensional model which aims to eradicate the current lack of translation between promising preclinical data and effective treatments. Speaking at the 2018 National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) Cancer Conference, held in Glasgow, UK, Prof. Chalmers reveals the improvements made on the previous 2-dimensional model, and as a result indicates a promising outlook for uncovering new drug–radiation combinations.
