SABCS 2024 | EUROPA: radiotherapy versus endocrine therapy in low-risk early breast cancer

Icro Meattini, MD, University of Florence, Florence, Italy, discusses the interim findings of the Phase III EUROPA trial (NCT04134598), which compared radiotherapy and endocrine therapy in older adults with low-risk early breast cancer. At 24 months, radiotherapy resulted in significantly better health-related quality of life, with fewer declines in functional and symptom scales compared to endocrine therapy. No ipsilateral breast tumor recurrence, locoregional recurrence, nor distant metastases were observed in either group. This interview took place at the 2024 San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (SABCS) congress in San Antonio, TX.
