ASCO 2024 | Advances in non-clear cell kidney cancer
Sumanta Kumar Pal, MD, FASCO, City of Hope, Duarte, CA, shares insights from a talk at the 2024 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting on non-clear cell kidney cancer, which makes up 10-15% of cases. Discussing papillary kidney cancer, Dr Pal highlights the PAPMET trial, establishing cabozantinib as a relative standard, as well as ongoing trials combining targeted therapy with immunotherapy, aiming to set treatment standards. Rare subtypes and the vital role of patient advocates in bridging patients and clinical trials are also emphasized.
