WCLC 2024 | The importance of diagnosing lung cancer early in young adults

Filiz Oezkan, MD, West German Cancer Center, Essen, Germany, highlights the differential survival rates of lung cancer across different age groups and value of early diagnosis in young adults. Whilst treatment strategies should be consistent across all age groups, CT and PET scans need to be more prevalent in the young population. Distant and brain metasteses are more commonly observed in younger patients upon diagnosis. This interview took place at the 2024 World Conference on Lung Cancer (WCLC) in San Diego, CA.
