BTOG 2025 | Understanding drug resistance in oncogene-addicted non-small cell lung cancer

Sanjay Popat, BSc, MBBS, FRCP, PhD, The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, London, UK, discusses insights from Professor Pasi Jänne’s work at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute on drug-tolerant persistent cells in oncogene-addicted non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Despite highly effective targeted therapies, these persistent cells contribute to acquired resistance, limiting long-term treatment success. Ongoing research is exploring strategies to target key pathways, including MEK, TEAD, and BCL2, to overcome resistance and improve patient outcomes. This interview took place at the BTOG 2025 congress in Belfast, UK.
