Sanjoy Chatterjee, MBBS, Tata Medical Center, Kolkata, India, discusses the importance of considering quality of life (QoL) as a primary endpoint in radiotherapy trials, and presents QoL data from the HYPORT study (NCT03788213) of hypofractionated adjuvant breast regional nodal radiotherapy (RNRT). Within the study, a 5-fraction regime did not produce a reduction in any QoL score, including overall global QoL, symptom scores and cognitive function when compared with the 15-fraction regime. This demonstrates that reducing the number of fractions has no impact on patient QoL. This interview took place at the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology 2026 Congress in Stockholm, Sweden.
