ESTRO 2026 | HYPORT: does the number of fractions of RNRT impact the typical symptoms experienced?

Sanjoy Chatterjee, MBBS, Tata Medical Center, Kolkata, India, comments on the occurrence of expected radiotherapy symptoms of lymphedema, shoulder pain and brachial plexopathy in the HYPORT study (NCT03788213) of hypofractionated adjuvant breast regional nodal radiotherapy (RNRT). No difference was found between these symptoms between patients treated with 5 versus 15 fractions, up to 18 months. Longer follow-up of up to 5 years is required to confirm that there is no difference in late effects between the treatment regimens. This interview took place at the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology 2026 Congress in Stockholm, Sweden.
