Jun Gong, MD, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles, CA, elucidates how the retrospective identification of MTAP deletions in certain gastrointestinal cancers could be hypothesis-generating. Clinical trials exploring combination strategies with PRMT5 inhibitors in cholangiocarcinoma are feasible, and future trials involving immunotherapy (IO) may assess MTAP deletions as prognostic or predicative biomarkers.
