IASLC TTLC 2022 | Advances in screening techniques for lung cancer

Whilst survival rates in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) are increasing due to improvements in therapies, cases of second primary lung cancer (SPLC) are subsequently increasing. Prasad Adusumilli, MD, FACS, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York, NY, discusses strategies to improve diagnosing lung cancer to personalize treatments and further optimize patients outcome. A combination of biopsies and positron emission tomography (PET)- computerized tomography (CT) scans will determine if patients will benefit more from limited resection or a lumpectomy. Novel techniques including endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) bronchoscopy will additionally help clinicals personalize treatments for patients. This interview took place at the 2022 Targeted Therapies of Lung Cancer Meeting (TTLC 2022).
