Kyosuke Seguchi, MD, Kameda Medical Center, Kamogawa, Japan, presents background and findings from MONSTAR-SCREEN-2, a prospective molecular profiling study examining CSF1R expression in gastric cancer. Gene Set Enrichment Analysis found high CSF1R expression was associated with shorter overall survival (OS), whilst multivariable analysis found high CSF1R expression trended towards worse OS. CSF1R-high tumors were found to be enriched with macrophage-related genes, inflammatory pathways, inhibitory checkpoint molecules, T-cell exhaustion signatures and immunoregulatory genes, indicating an immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Gastrointestinal Cancer 2026 Congress in Munich, Germany.
