ASCO GI 2024 | A case study: oligometastatic gastroesophageal adenocarcinoma

Nataliya V. Uboha, MD, PhD, University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center, Madison, WI, discusses an oligometastatic gastroesophageal adenocarcinoma case at the 2024 ASCO Gastrointestinal (GI) Cancers Symposium. The presentation addresses the unique stage between locoregional and metastatic disease, focusing on patients with limited metastatic burden who may benefit from more aggressive treatments. Dr Uboha emphasizes ongoing investigations into the optimal approach for these patients. The presented case involves esophageal cancer with a few lung metastases, treated with systemic chemotherapy, primary disease resection, and lung metastases radiation ablation. Remarkably, the patient has remained cancer-free for nearly three years. This interview took place at the 2024 ASCO Gastrointestinal (GI) Cancers Symposium in San Francisco, CA.
