EBCC 2024 | The future of artificial intelligence in breast cancer screening

Nisha Sharma, MBChB, MRCP, FRCR, The Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust, Leeds, UK, highlights the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in screening of breast cancer. The use of AI in arbitration of breast screening images can reduce the workload of radiologists, which can increase efficiency and reduce the impact of workforce shortages. AI may also be used in triage, reading mammograms first to identify low risk images that may be read by one radiologist. This interview took place at the 14th European Breast Cancer Conference (EBCC) in Milan, Italy.
