AACR 2024 | Prognostic factors of renal cell cancer in elderly patients

Teemu Murtola, MD, PhD, University of Tampere, Tampere, Finland, comments on emerging prognostic factors of kidney cancer in elderly patients. For elderly patients, who tend to be more frail, certain considerations need to be made to assess their eligibility for surgery. Comorbidities such as heart conditions and dementia are linked to poorer outcomes, and conservative treatment is recommended in these patients. This interview took place at American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Annual Meeting 2024 in San Diego, CA.
