Naomi Farrington, RN, MA, PhD, PgDip, University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, Southampton, UK, describes issues elderly patients with dementia and cancer face in receiving treatment during the COVID-19 pandemic. Logistical and practical barriers in booking appointments, as well as communications issues have arisen as a result of the pandemic, as caregivers may not always be able to accompany patients in consultations. Furthermore, patient support may also be restricted if caregivers themselves require shielding due to their own pre-existing conditions. This interview took place at the United Kingdom Oncology Nursing Society (UKONS) Annual Conference 2021.
