EBCC 2024 | Avoiding unnecessary mastectomies in breast cancer

Federica Martorana, MD, University of Catania, Catania, Italy, comments on the clinical significance of a retrospective analysis from the EUSOMA database that assessed drivers of surgical choice in post-neoadjuvant breast cancer. Baseline tumor extension was the primary factor for mastectomies, and knowing these factors can help clinicians in administering mastectomies in patients who need it. This interview took place at the 14th European Breast Cancer Conference (EBCC) in Milan, Italy.
