EBCC 2024 | Drivers of surgical choice in breast cancer following neoadjuvant therapy

Federica Martorana, MD, University of Catania, Catania, Italy, discusses findings from a retrospective analysis from the EUSOMA database of factors that influence whether patients with breast cancer receive breast-conserving surgery or mastectomy following neoadjuvant therapy. Age, multifocal disease, and tumor size all affected the choice of surgery. Baseline tumor extension and the COVID-19 pandemic may also have an effect on surgery choice. This interview took place at the 14th European Breast Cancer Conference (EBCC) in Milan, Italy.
