AACR 2021 | Prognostication using germline risk variants and RNA expression for breast cancer

Sheila Rajagopal, MD, The University of Chicago, Chicago, IL, outlines the development of an integrated prognostic scoring system that uses germline risk variants and RNA expression for prognostication of survival in patients with breast cancer. A predicted transcriptomic score (PTRS) used predicted expression levels based on germline genotypes, and an observed transcriptomic score (OTRS) used normalized RNA expression. No associations were observed between PTRS/progression-free survival (PFS) or OTRS/overall survival, however, OTRS/PFS trended toward statistical significance with the inclusion of clinical factors including age and AJCC staging. This interview took place at the virtual American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Annual Meeting 2021.
