Guilherme Nader-Marta, MD, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, MA, discusses the differences between lobular and non-special type breast cancer in the metastatic setting. Patients with lobular disease tend to be older, more likely to be white, and have distinct genomic and transcriptomic profiles, including higher rates of certain mutations such as NF1, CDH1, and PIK3CA. Continued investigation into these differences is crucial, as they may have implications for treatment and patient care, and patients with lobular breast cancer should be included in clinical trials to determine the efficacy of new treatments in this population. This interview took place at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (SABCS) 2025 Meeting in San Antonio, TX.
