SABCS 2024 | Emerging strategies to overcome resistance to HER2 ADCs in breast cancer

Jangsoon Lee, PhD, University of Hawai’i Cancer Center, Honolulu, HI, discusses recent studies focusing on the management of HER2 antibody-drug conjugate (ADC resistance in breast cancer. The downregulation of the HER2 gene pathway has been found to initiate tumor cell death pathways and inhibit tumor growth. Patients with low HER2 expression can benefit from trastuzumab deruxtecan (T-DXd) but patients with high genetic mutations in the DNA repair pathways are recommended to take combination therapy which inhibit DNA-related repair. This interview took place at 2024 San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (SABCS) congress in San Antonio, TX.
