Marco Fiore, MD, FACS, Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori di Milano, Milan, Italy, discusses the process of standardizing surgical approaches for retroperitoneal sarcoma through a robust international collaboration. Initially, experts came together for live surgery sessions to align terminology and practices, recognizing differences across various institutions. This collaboration, which evolved into the Transatlantic Australasia Retroperitoneal Sarcoma Working Group, has grown globally. A prospective registry was established to collect and compare data, leading to the development of updated recommendations based on collective findings. The team has also published resources, including video explanations, to codify surgical steps for broader accessibility. This interview took place at the ESSO 2024 congress in Antwerp, Belgium.
