GU Cancers 2023 | Novel approaches for risk stratification of newly diagnosed localized prostate cancer

Phuoc T. Tran, MD, PhD, University of Maryland, College Park, MD, talks on novel approaches for risk stratification of newly diagnosed localized prostate cancer, including the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools to precision risk stratified patients into correct groups to increase patient outcome. Using stage migration will increase average outcomes of groups, as well as benefitting the individual through receiving the most appropriate and thus optimal treatment. Additionally, Prof. Tran talks on multiparametric platforms, such as whole transcriptome profiling, for enhanced risk stratification. The Decipher test looks at the activity of 22 genes in prostate tumors and calculates a score from 0 to 1 and has been validated to be prognostic for distant metastasis and prostate cancer-specific survival in the localized space. This interview took place at the ASCO GU Cancers Symposium 2023 in San Francisco, CA.
