Jose Martin-Moreno, MD, PhD, University of Valencia, Valencia, Spain, provides an overview of advances and unmet needs in the management of cancer. Various calamitous events such as natural disasters, pandemics and wars can draw attention away from patient care, especially for people in disaster zones. Dr Martin-Moreno additionally highlights developments in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). Despite unfounded fears regarding the use of machine learning, AI can prove beneficial in the clinic and novel ESMO Guidance for Reporting Oncology Real-World evidence (GROW) guidelines will help healthcare professionals process large amounts of data.
