Lorenza Rimassa, MD, IRCCS Humanitas Research Hospital, Milan, Italy, comments on the impact of cardiovascular and metabolic conditions on outcomes in the HIMALAYA trial (NCT03298451), which assessed single tremelimumab and regular interval durvalumab (STRIDE) versus sorafenib in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Patients with hypertension and type 2 diabetes achieved similar overall survival benefits from STRIDE as those without, and higher long-term survival rates were observed. Safety profiles were consistent, underscoring the benefits of STRIDE in a diverse patient population. This interview took place at 2024 European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Gastrointestinal Cancers Annual Congress in Munich, Germany.
