ESMO 2023 | The role of NGS and ctDNA in advancing personalized medicine in oncology

Klaus Pantel, MD, PhD, University Medical Centre Hamburg-Eppendorf, Hamburg, Germany, discusses the emerging role of next-generation sequencing (NGS) and liquid biopsies. Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) consists of DNA fragments released from the tumor detected in blood samples and detection of ctDNA can predict relapse and subsequently influence treatment options for individuals. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2023 Congress in Madrid, Spain.
