Wim Ceelen, MD, PhD, Ghent University Hospital, Ghent, Belgium, discusses the findings of a study on electrostatic precipitation-enhanced intraperitoneal aerosol drug delivery, which investigated the use of multiple electrodes to improve the efficacy of this technique. Prof. Ceelen highlights that the study, conducted in collaboration with a company developing the device, found that using three electrodes is more effective than using two, and two is more effective than one, in terms of the spatial distribution and penetration of the aerosol, as demonstrated using methylene blue as a surrogate for chemotherapy. This interview took place at the 44th Congress of the European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO 44) in Gothenburg, Sweden.
