ISOPP 2021 | Assessing QOL outcomes in cancer patients via text

Alison Palumbo, PharmD, MPH, BCOP, Oregon Health and Science University, Portland, OR, describes a planned project that aims to assess patient reported quality of life outcomes in patients on oral chemotherapy. In this study, patients will be sent monthly text messages containing the validated European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) quality of life questionnaire (QLQ-C30) for six months. The aim of this work is to evaluate feasibility and utility of this approach and to perform an exploratory analysis comparing quality of life between patients based on type of cancer, the receipt of pharmacist services and other factors. This interview took place during the International Society of Oncology Pharmacy Practitioners (ISOPP) 2021 Virtual Symposium.
