SABCS 2025 | ECOG-ACRIN EA1131: post-NACT TILs and intrinsic subtype in residual TNBC

Sunil Badve, MD, FRCPath, Emory School of Medicine, Atlanta, GA, comments on the secondary analysis of the ECOG-ACRIN EA1131 trial (NCT02445391) examining stromal tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) and intrinsic subtype in patients with residual triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT). The analysis shows that low TIL levels combined with a basal-like subtype identify a particularly high-risk group with significantly worse invasive disease-free survival. This interview took place at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (SABCS) 2025 Meeting in San Antonio, TX.
