ESMO GI 2024 | Real-world biomarker testing and treatment patterns in advanced G/GEJ cancer
Samuel Klempner, MD, Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, MA, discusses findings from a cohort study on biomarker testing and treatment patterns in patients with advanced gastric/gastroesophageal junction (G/GEJ) cancer. Findings reveal that under half of patients underwent testing for all three actionable biomarkers (HER2, PD-L1, and MSI/MMR). Despite guidelines, testing and appropriate treatments such as pembrolizumab, nivolumab and trastuzumab were not universally applied, indicating a need for more testing. This interview took place at 2024 European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Gastrointestinal Cancers Annual Congress in Munich, Germany.
