ASCO GI 2023 | How can we mitigate health inequalities in colorectal cancer?

Afsaneh Barzi, MD, PhD, City of Hope, Duarte, CA, describes strategies to reduce healthcare inequalities patients with colorectal cancer may face, including acknowledging these disparities, and cooperating with marginalized communities. Policies additionally need to reflect the fact that these patients are more likely to utilize the emergency room, as opposed to visiting a primary healthcare provider. This interview took place at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) 2023 Gastrointestinal Cancers (GI) Symposium in San Francisco, CA.
