Tarah Jean Ballinger, MD, Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis, IN, comments on the impact of the EAZ171 trial (NCT04001829), which compared rates of treatment-induced peripheral neuropathy (TIPN) in Black patients with breast cancer receiving weekly paclitaxel versus every three-week docetaxel. It demonstrates that docetaxel was superior in Black patients and provides a blueprint for developing trials aimed specifically at marginalized communities. This interview took place during the 2024 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting in Chicago, IL.
