Jim Hu, MD, Weill Cornell Medicine, New York, NY, gives an overview of recent updates in the field of surgery for prostate cancer. Machine learning has enabled new insights into surgical techniques, but standardization and efficient recordkeeping in different surgical techniques between surgeons need to occur to quantitatively compare outcomes in patients. Prof. Hu additionally highlights a study assessing whether preserving the pelvic fascia improvise urinary control and reduces the risk of hernias and penile shortening. This interview took place at the ASCO GU Cancers Symposium 2024 in San Francisco, CA.
