ESMO 2024 | Setanaxib and pembrolizumab in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma
Makoto Tahara, MD, PhD, National Cancer Center Hospital East, Kashiwa, Japan, discusses a Phase II trial (NCT05323656) of setanaxib with pembrolizumab in patients with recurrent/metastatic head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (rmHNSCC) and high levels of cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAF). The addition of setanaxib significantly improved progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) compared to pembrolizumab alone. However, additional studies are needed in larger cohorts to further assess the efficacy of the novel combination. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2024 Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
