Philip Poortmans, MD, PhD, University of Antwerp, Antwerp, Belgium, discusses the importance of tailoring radiation therapy based on post-chemotherapy response rather than initial tumor stage. Emphasis is placed on considering tumor characteristics and biology post-treatment to optimize radiation volumes and doses, especially in HER2+ and HER2- breast cancers. This interview took place at the 2024 European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Breast Cancer Annual Congress in Berlin, Germany.
