Martin Heidinger, MD, University Hospital Basel, Basel, Switzerland, discusses the effect of post-mastectomy radiotherapy (PMRT) on patient-reported outcomes in patients with breast cancer with or without immediate reconstruction. Findings from a retrospective study suggest that PMRT is associated with worse short-term physical and psychosocial well-being scores, regardless of reconstruction status. Despite similar complication rates, patients undergoing PMRT reported a greater impact on quality of life. This interview took place at the 2025 St. Gallen International Breast Cancer Consensus Meeting in Vienna, Austria.
