ASCO 2023 | Unmet needs for gallbladder cancers

Sushma Agrawal, MD, SGPGI, Lucknow, India, comments on the unmet needs of bladder cancer. Despite the observed improvement in overall-survival (OS), it is acknowledged that current treatments are not optimal. There is a need for further advancements in the field. A recent publication of immunotherapy results suggests that combining radiotherapy with immunotherapy should be explored in prospective studies. The aim is to investigate if this combination can yield better outcomes compared to the current approach of consolidation chemotherapy and radiation. Dr Agrawal emphasizes the importance of ongoing research and development to address the unmet needs in gallbladder cancer treatment. This interview took place at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) 2023 Annual Congress in Chicago, IL.
