WCLC 2023 | Accommodating unmet needs in geriatric patients with lung cancer

Shalini Vinod, MBBS, University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia, shares strategies to address unmet needs in geriatric patients with lung cancer. A geriatric oncology model of care to accommodate specific needs in older patients has been supported by randomized evidence, but there has been limited implementation in clinical practice. The model involves lung cancer screening for geriatric patients followed by a comprehensive assessment by a geriatrician and allied health professionals. Dr Vinod emphasises the need for multidisciplinary team meetings to develop personalized management plans for geriatric patients. This interview took place at the 2023 World Conference on Lung Cancer (WCLC) in Singapore, Singapore.
