Arlene Siefker-Radtke, MD, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX, discusses the recent press release of the Phase III TROPiCS-04 (NCT04527991) trial, a global, multicenter, open-label, randomized, controlled trial of sacituzumab govitecan versus treatment of physician’s choice in patients with locally advanced unresectable or metastatic urothelial carcinoma (mUC) who progressed after prior platinum-based and checkpoint inhibitor therapies. The trial did not meet the standard to improve survival, raising concerns about the toxicity of sacituzumab govitecan. She highlights her curiosity about the trial’s detailed results and suggests that the toxicity of sacituzumab govitecan, particularly neutropenia and neutropenic fevers, might be a contributing factor.
