ASCO 2024 | Public awareness in early lung cancer detection and screening

Pan-Chyr Yang, MD, PhD, National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan, emphasizes the importance of public awareness in lung cancer detection during. He highlights that lung cancer often presents no symptoms until advanced stages, making it crucial to identify and screen high-risk individuals early. Current data show a higher screening uptake among females with a family history of lung cancer compared to males. Prof. Yang stresses the need to use public media to educate the high-risk population about the importance of screening and who should undergo it. This interview took place during the 2024 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting in Chicago, IL.
