ELCC 2026 | Targeted therapy options by BRAF mutation class in lung cancer
Mariana Brandao, MD, PhD, Jules Bordet Institute, Brussels, Belgium, explores the differing treatment approaches for patients with Class I, Class II and Class III mutations. First-line treatment often includes chemoimmunotherapy, and then patients have options for targeted therapies once they progress. For Class I mutations, treatment typically combines a MEK and BRAF inhibitor, and for Class II, some patients are sensitive to MEK inhibitors and some can benefit from BRAF inhibition. Class III mutations have the least options, with some sensitive to MEK inhibition and some to EGFR inhibition, however for these patients, Dr Brandao highlights the potential for clinical trials. This interview took place at the 2026 European Lung Cancer Congress in Copenhagen, Denmark.
