Alexander Van Akkooi, MD, PhD, Melanoma Institute Australia, Sydney, Australia, gives an overview of the EORTC 1208 Minitub study (NCT01942603), which evaluates outcomes in patients with melanoma, who have a minimal sentinel node (SN) tumor burden managed without complete lymph node dissection. The study reveals that SN tumor burden and AJCC stage are independent prognostic factors, suggesting that minimal SN tumor burden may not necessitate aggressive surgical intervention and could impact future staging systems. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2024 Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
